Since the early days of the business Janis has been a steady presence, supporting Ian as they built the Company. Following Ian’s passing in 2013, she became sole owner and continues to take an active interest in the business her family has worked hard to grow.
Janis remains closely connected to what’s happening and plays an important role as a guiding figure within the business. Her long-standing commitment to the company and family values is a cornerstone of who we are today.

Glen Sutherland - Director
Glen is the Managing Director of GEM Group Holdings. Having joined the family business at the age of 15, Glen has accumulated years of hands-on experience both in the field and within the office. From working directly on projects to overseeing key operations, Glen has developed a deep understanding of all aspects of the business. Now at the helm of day-to-day operations, Glen is committed to continuing the company's legacy while driving growth and innovation in the earthmoving and civil construction industry.

Heather Cram - Director
Heather is a Director and the Company Secretary at GEM Group Holdings. With over 20 years of experience in the industry, Heather plays a key role in overseeing the company’s day-to-day business functions, improving efficiency, and fostering relationships with clients and partners. Mark Wyatt - General Manager
With 30+ years in construction, Mark brings expertise and leadership to Gambier Earth Movers. He has managed state operations and led multiple companies, driving growth and efficiency. Holding a degree in Construction Management & Economics and a Graduate Certificate in Law, he blends technical and legal expertise. Mark ensures high-quality, cost-effective solutions while fostering strong client relationships and community engagement, reinforcing Gambier Earth Movers as a trusted industry partner.

Adam, a senior manager and Civil & Environmental Engineer, brings 17 years of expertise in civil construction, engineering design, and project delivery. Michael Jolley - Operations Manager
With 28 years of dedicated experience at GEM Operations, Michael Jolley has cultivated extensive expertise across various key areas, including accounts, purchasing, logistics, and operations management. Beginning his career as a Company Purchasing Officer, Michael advanced to Logistics Manager, where he oversaw specialized heavy movement, freight delivery, and plant hire services.
Michael’s vast knowledge, combined with a commitment to excellence, drives his approach to identifying and capitalizing on new business opportunities. His leadership ensures GEM continues to deliver exceptional service and operational success.

Simon Murphy - Quarry Manager
Simon Murphy is the Quarry Manager at Moree Quarry based in Harrow Victoria where he oversees the Moree team and the running of our crushing plant that has been producing and supplying our Grade A Basalt rock across Victoria and South Australia. Simon has been in the quarrying industry for over 20 years and has a vast range of contacts within the industry. Simon’s knowledge, commitment and experience ensures Moree quarry maintains high quality products to meet specification and client needs
