Barrie Hudson, General Manager of GEM Group Holdings

Appointed General Manager of GEM Group Holdings Pty Ltd in 2004. 30 years experience of business management from directing companies locally. Recognising the personnel expertise within the GEM Group has consolidated a strong management team to further develop the company throughout the 21st century. Developments have included quarry expansion into Victoria, and concentrating on major civil works throughout South East of South Australia and Western Victoria and the implementation of the CCF integrated management system incorporating the quality requirements of ISO 9001 2008. This ensures all the groups activities have a management system that reflects our total commitment to customers and employees.

 

Bill Gould, Operations Manager

Bill has 37 years experience in civil construction and is currently holder of a Builder’s Licence. Bill also has spent many years working on hot mix (asphalt) and chip seals and is the manager of the hot mix team at GEM.

Within the work of subdivisions, he oversees road construction, drainage, sewerage, water, underground power, survey and design. He comes into contact with many and varied personnel within civil construction and is very familiar with the rules and regulations that govern our industry.

 

Bob Ferguson

Bob Ferguson, Manager of GEM Quarries

35 years experience in the quarrying industry throughout Western Victoria and South East South Australia, Bob has brought a wealth of knowledge and professionalism to the GEM Group as Quarry Manager of Moree Quarries Pty Ltd and Manager of GEM Quarries. Holding the appropriate Manager and Blasting licences and with his ongoing implementation of regulations involved in the quarrying industry and the liaising with government departments reassuring compliance with the relevant legislation, the safety of employees and customers is a priority. His commitment and experience also ensures GEM quarries maintain a high quality product to meet specification and client needs.

 

Darrell Thomas Dip Eng (Civil), Engineering Manager

Civil Engineer with over 25 years experience in a diverse range of urban and rural project management. His background and experience offers clients a sound understanding of both the environmental issues and the engineering considerations necessary in the development of infrastructure projects and the ability to blend the needs and requirements of both fields.

 

Adam Maywald B. Eng (Hons) Civil & Environmental, Project Engineer

Civil and Environmental Engineer specialising in the geotechnical, water, wastewater and coastal engineering fields, Adam has combined this knowledge with diverse major as well as detailed civil works to implement the latest best practice project management techniques. His environmental engineering background gives clients a unique resource to draw on and the ability to undertake projects in a sustainable manner.

 

Alastair Stewart, Estimating Manager

Commencing work with local government from 1970 to 1997 managing engineering services for councils. Over the years Alastair has gained considerable experience in project management and road infrastructure, including the many other components that make up the local government structure. The past 13 years since leaving local government and moving to private enterprise, Alastair has filled various rolls within the company and has had the opportunity to advance his knowledge within the industry. Alastair now fulfils the responsibilities as Estimating Manager for GEM.

 

Paul Carrison

Paul Carrison, Estimator

Employed in estimating at GEM after 7 years experience quoting in construction. Will be responsible for quoting civil works for residential sub divisions, school and hospital projects, construction of pavement areas, preparation for new buildings and associated services, driveways and various other developments in South East of South Australia and South Western Victoria.

 

Colin Cram, Manager Gambier Stone Supplies Pty Ltd

Colin oversees an experienced sales and quarry personnel team.  With a strong background of 15 years in the Mount Gambier Limestone industry, starting out at ground level as a limestone cutter, his insight and knowledge of the limestone industry is invaluable to the client.  His commitment and passion to the industry ensures that Gambier Stone Supplies Pty Ltd will continue to provide and meet the clients’ needs with quality service and a quality limestone product within today’s ever changing industry requirements.

 

Michael Jolley, Logistics Manager

Logistics Manager of 9 years. He has a strong background of 14 years in GEM Operations including previous roles in accounts, purchasing and logistics. Developed necessary skills needed to control and organise GEM’s large trucking fleet. Specializing in heavy movement/ freight delivery and plant hire puts Michael into one of those special category of people that keeps things moving smoothly with a strong focus on meeting the needs of clients/or potential clients.
